Discovery Opportunities
The genome is vast, and only a subset of genetic associations have been mapped. Also, not all organisms have been sequenced.
To discover genetic associations, you must link a phenotype (qualitatively or quantitatively observable feature) to the genotype. We have an opportunity with the other clinical offerings of Advanced Cardiology, Advanced Diagnostics and Advanced Rheumatology:
- MRI scans, X-rays, ultrasounds andnuclear imaging of patients are routinely collected.
- Compare observable differences (illness related) to genomic tests.

- Veterinary sequences can be mined for changes associated with health conditions. These variations may also impact human health.
- To accomplish discovery, we will need grant support and collaboration to perform some of these studies and collaborate with Genome Alberta, Genome Canada, Universities
