We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Genetic Counselor to join our team. This role involves working directly with patients, laboratory team and healthcare providers to assess individual or family genetic risk factors, provide guidance on genetic testing, and support patients through the results and implications of testing.
Conduct comprehensive genetic assessments for patients based on family and medical histories.
Provide individualized counseling to help patients understand genetic risks and make informed decisions.
Educate patients on available genetic testing options, including risks, benefits, and limitations.
Interpret genetic testing results and communicate findings to patients and healthcare providers in a clear, accessible manner.
Collaborate with laboratory team healthcare providers to integrate genetic findings into personalized care plans.
Document patient interactions, assessments, and findings in an accurate and timely manner.
Stay updated on developments in genetics, genetic counseling, and related healthcare fields. Participate in continuing education and stay updated on genetics and genetic counseling developments, particularly as guided by ACMG standards.
Sign off on the reports, when applicable, so that they may be sent to the client.
Schedule meeting (s) with the client and provide education, statements about the testing limitations, and the results seen in the lab and how it may affect their health or wellness.
There may be multiple meetings scheduled, depending on the requests of the clients.
Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or a related field from an accredited program. Certification by the Canadian Board of Genetic Counselling (CBGC) and/or the American Board of Genetic Counsellors (ABGC).
Professional knowledge of the rapidly changing principles and practice of medical, clinical and laboratory genetics

Two years of experience in a clinical or healthcare setting is preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
